Saturday Recap In Rapid City

In Walk-off, Post 400 Stars 18U Loses To Rapid City Post 22 (GAME 1)
 
It came down to the last play, but Post 400 Stars 18U was on the wrong end of a 10-9 defeat to Rapid City Post 22 on Saturday.  The game was tied at nine with Rapid City Post 22 batting in the bottom of the seventh when Wilson Kieffer singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
 
Post 400 Stars 18U trailed by four runs in the third inning, but then fought back to lower the final margin.  Post 400 Stars 18U managed seven runs in the failed comeback. Caleb Christianson, Matthew Bryant,  Gunnar Majerus, Ashton Rinas, and Majerus powered the rally with RBIs.
 
Rapid City Post 22 captured the lead in the second inning.  An error scored two runs for Rapid City Post 22.
 
Post 400 Stars 18U evened things up at nine in the top of the sixth inning when an error scored one run for Post 400 Stars 18U.
 
Post 400 Stars 18U notched six runs in the fourth inning.  Christianson, Bryant, Majerus, and Rinas powered the big inning with RBIs.
 
Rapid City Post 22 scored three runs in the fourth inning.  Zeeke Farlee and Harrison Good each had RBIs in the frame.
 
Hayden Leighty got the start for Rapid City Post 22. The hurler allowed ten hits and eight runs over three and a third innings, striking out one.
 
Bryant was on the hill for Post 400 Stars 18U. Bryant went four innings, allowing nine runs on ten hits, striking out one and walking zero.  Rinas threw two and a third innings in relief.
 
Post 400 Stars 18U collected 13 hits.  Colby Hanson, Christianson, Kane Mathiason, and Rinas all collected multiple hits for Post 400 Stars 18U.  Hanson went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Post 400 Stars 18U in hits.
 
Rapid City Post 22 had 13 hits in the game.  Hayden Holee, Farlee, Kieffer, Amarian Saileiz, and Alex Dietrich each managed multiple hits for Rapid City Post 22.
 
 
Rapid City Post 22 Runs Away With Early Lead in Victory (GAME 2)
 
Post 400 Stars 18U fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 13-0 loss to Rapid City Post 22 on Sunday.  Rapid City Post 22 scored on a walk by Harrison Good, a fielder's choice by Peyton Tipton, an error, a triple by Wyatt Reeder, and a walk by Wilson Kieffer in the first inning.
 
The Post 400 Stars 18U struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Rapid City Post 22, giving up 13 runs.
 
In the first inning, Rapid City Post 22 got their offense started.  Good drew a walk, scoring one run.
 
A single by Colby Hanson in the first inning was a positive for Post 400 Stars 18U.
 
Lee Neubebauer led things off on the hill for Rapid City Post 22. The pitcher went four innings, allowing zero runs on five hits, striking out three and walking one.
 
Gunnar Majerus started the game for Post 400 Stars 18U. The lefty lasted two-thirds of an inning, allowing one hit and six runs while striking out one.  Caiden Neuharth and Cayden Neuharth entered the game as relief, throwing two innings and one-third of an inning respectively.
 
Jake Jaroszewski, Hanson, Matthew Bryant, Kane Mathiason, and Neuharth each managed one hit to lead Post 400 Stars 18U.
 
Rapid City Post 22 didn't commit a single error in the field. Good had  four chances in the field, the most on the team.
 
 
Post 400 Astros 17U Loses Lead Early in Defeat (GAME 1)
 
Post 400 Astros 17U watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 10-0 loss to Rapid City Sliders 16U on Saturday.  Rapid City Sliders 16U scored on a triple by Jace Morgan, a single by Hadley Burrus, and a stolen base by D Steen in the first inning.
 
The Post 400 Astros 17U struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Rapid City Sliders 16U, giving up ten runs.
 
Rapid City Sliders 16U got things moving in the first inning.  Morgan drove in one when Morgan tripled.
 
One bright spot for Post 400 Astros 17U was a single by Kane Mathiason in the fifth inning.
 
Broeden Sales led things off on the hill for Rapid City Sliders 16U. The pitcher lasted six innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out seven.
 
Blake McCarthy was on the hill for Post 400 Astros 17U. McCarthy surrendered seven runs on nine hits over five innings, striking out two.  Gus Werremeyer threw two-thirds of an inning in relief.
 
Mathiason led Post 400 Astros 17U with one hit in two at bats.
 
Rapid City Sliders 16U saw the ball well today, racking up nine hits in the game.  Morgan, Burrus, and Carter Johnson each racked up multiple hits for Rapid City Sliders 16U.  Rapid City Sliders 16U tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Dawson Inhofer led the way with two.


Rapid City Sliders 16U Runs Away With Early Lead in Victory (GAME 2)
 
Post 400 Astros 17U watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 8-2 loss to Rapid City Sliders 16U on Saturday. 

Rapid City Sliders 16U scored on a groundout by Jace Morgan and a triple by D Steen in the first inning.
 
The Post 400 Astros 17U struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Rapid City Sliders 16U, giving up eight runs.
 
In the first inning, Rapid City Sliders 16U got their offense started.  Morgan grounded out, scoring two runs.
 
Mecoy Rippentrop led things off on the hill for Rapid City Sliders 16U. Rippentrop went seven innings, allowing two runs on one hit and striking out five.
 
Gavin Jiskra was on the hill for Post 400 Astros 17U. Jiskra allowed six hits and seven runs over three and a third innings, striking out three.  Coleston Senn threw two and two-thirds innings in relief.
 
Calvin Jungling led Post 400 Astros 17U with one hit in two at bats.
 
Hadley Burrus went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Rapid City Sliders 16U in hits.  Rapid City Sliders 16U was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Skyler Montgomery had the most chances in the field with six.
